There are various scholarships that CBCMP students can apply for, such as:
1. Monbukagakusho Honors Scholarship for Privately Financed International Students (i.e. JASSO scholarship)
2. Scholarships from local governments or international associations
3. Scholarships from private foundations
In general, students may apply to these scholarships only after they are enrolled in Osaka University (or another Japanese higher-education institution), through recommendation from the university. The requirements and amount of each scholarship vary and more information can be found at the JASSO website (http://www.jasso.go.jp/).
All Osaka University students are eligible to apply for tuition fee exemption (for either half or all tuition fees). The majority of CBCMP students who apply receive a 50% reduction of their tuition fees (http://www.osaka-u.ac.jp/en/guide/student/tuition/remission).
As of fiscal year 2014, about one-third of CBCMP students receive scholarships from various sources and more than half receive tuition fee reductions or waivers (subject to change). See the site below about scholarship at Osaka University.
